Winston Salem-based Sari & Company will soon break ground on a 152-unit affordable housing project. The restoration project centers around a historic mill, once owned by Waren C. Coleman, a former slave and one of Concord’s most influential early leaders. In January of 2015, the mill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Three years later, it was designated a local landmark by City Council.
