Two restaurants suffered damage from fires over the weekend. A fire at Puerto Nuevo Mexican and Seafood Restaurant in Banner Elk began around 11:30am Saturday while it was open for business. The cause was accidental and it started in the upper portion of the rotunda. And the Gastonia Fire Department responded to the Texas Roadhouse Sunday afternoon. Department officials say that fire was likely caused by a cooking incident that began in the hood system above the grills.
