The town of Mooresville has had numerous complaints from residents concerning a memorial that friends and family installed last year at Bellingham Park after a Mooresville teen passed away. The town originally ordered the memorial to be removed by this weekend, but now has extended that deadline until the end of this month. Residents say the memorial shouldn’t be allowed in a taxpayer funded city park and that the memorial should be somewhere private, such as the backyard of the home of the family. One resident voiced concern recently when the boy’s family and friends left balloons at the memorial after the boy’s birthday, saying that the balloons could easily cause wildlife such as birds to choke. #Gio16Forever,
