Deputy Alan Josey, the school resource officer for North Iredell Middle School, jumped into action after a 7th grader started choking and showing signs of respiratory distress. Deputy Josey performed the Heimlich maneuver, potentially saving the girl’s life. Prior to becoming a police officer, Josey spent eight years in the United States Army Reserve as a combat medic.
