It wasn’t exactly the red wave some had predicted nationally, but overall the GOP did well in local election results. Ted Budd wins the US Senate race defeating Cheri Beasley, Patrick McHenry wins in the US House race. NC Senator Vickie Sawyer in district 37, Representative Jeff McNeely in district 84, as well as Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell all ran unopposed. In the hotly contested Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education, republicans Brian Sloan and Abby Sloan are expected to win those seats. In the Iredell County Board of Elections race, republicans Brad Stroud, Bert Connolloy and Gene Houpe will come out on top. Over in Mecklenburg County’s district 98, republican John Bradford defeated democrat Christy Clark.
