WSOC TV is reporting three adults and two children were hurt yesterday after a driver lost control of a pickup truck and plowed into a display of appliances, sending the appliances into a crowd at an open-air flea market in Newton. The crash happened at about 11:19am at the American Legion Fairgrounds in Newton, according to a release from the Newton Police Department. Three adults and two children were taken to area hospitals, with non-life-threatening injuries. 83-year-old Gerald Flowers of Conover was charged.
