One of the oldest and best-known businesses in Cornelius has been nominated as an official historic landmark. Potts Barber Shop on Catawba Avenue, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission, became the town’s first integrated barber shop in 1972. The Cornelius Town Board hearing will be September 20th. The plaque is expected to be dedicated during Black History Month in February 2022.
