North Carolina House lawmakers advanced a late session effort yesterday to legalize video gambling machines through the state lottery, with supporters saying it’s time to regulate them as efforts to eliminate shadowy machine parlors often fail. The bill would authorize video lottery terminals and direct the state lottery commission to permit bars, restaurants and convenience stores that can sell beer and wine to install up to 10 machines.
