Mecklenburg County Man Wins Million Dollars from NC Education Lottery

A Matthews man purchased a $30 lucky Millionaire Maker scratch-off ticket from the Food Lion on Monroe Road in Charlotte and won. He could choose to receive the prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. According to the NC Education Lottery, Andre Berrette chose the $600,000 option. After state and federal taxes, he took home just over $426,000.
