A crash and car fire on Interstate 485 in south Charlotte left one person dead yesterday morning, MEDIC confirmed. The crash happened before 12:30 a.m. The car involved had run off the ramp from the outer loop of I-485 to South Boulevard. Troopers said the car, a Hyundai, was driving north on the exit ramp when it drove off the left side of the road, hit a ditch, and then hit a tree. The car continued rolling north when it hit a second tree and then caught fire, troopers said.
