The NC Dept. of Health and Human Services yesterday reported 4,963 recent cases of COVID-19 statewide, the highest one-day gain in six months. The median number of new cases statewide during the past seven business days (4,331) is now running 154 percent ahead of the median number of fresh cases over the past 31 business days (1,701), based on data collected by Johns Hopkins University.
