Governor Roy Cooper has ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities be lowered to half staff until sunset, Thursday, December 9th in honor of former US Senator Bob Dole, who passed away on Sunday. A member of the Republican Party, Dole represented Kansas in the U.S. Senate from 1969 to 1996. During his 27 years as a senator, Dole served two stints as the senate majority leader.
