The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, as well as a local high school community, gathered yesterday to celebrate the life of a veteran officer who died from COVID-19. CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings tweeted on October 5th that Officer Julio Herrera had died. Herrera, who had been with the department for 28 years, was the school resource officer at Ardrey Kell High School.
