Not only does northern Mecklenburg find itself isolated in a new congressional district with a half-dozen largely rural counties for the 2022 election, but Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson now face the possibility of being represented by Republican Madison Cawthorn in the 13th district. Shortly after Cawthorn’s announcement, Cleveland County Republican Tim Moore surprised many by saying he would not pursue a seat in Congress.
