Statesville is about to replace its oldest fire station. The city council voted last night to fund $7.2 million of the construction of a new one with funds available in the American Rescue Plan Act. Fire Station 1 was at the top of the council’s priorities. Most of the council agreed as the motion passed 6-1, with C.O. “Jap” Johnson voting against it.
