A father with a 1-year-old child took the child with him to the manufacturing facility where he works in Mebane, just outside of Burlington Saturday. He left the child in his vehicle while he went into the plant and then forgot about the child, who perished in the heat. Police say the child was unresponsive when they arrived shortly before 12:30pm. The death is being investigated and no charges have been filed.
