UNCG plans to try to neutralize automobile emissions caused by commuters through the new Spartan DRIVE Fund, or Drivers Reducing Individual Vehicles Emissions. The project urges UNCG commuters to contribute $15 each a year to the DRIVE fund. The funds raised will be directed to energy-efficiency projects connected to campus, with a portion of it going to local nonprofits.
