Lucas Sloan, Manufacturing Lead at Purple Heart Homes, joined Good Morning LKN live from the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to share the work behind building a home for a veteran in just one week. Drawing on six years of construction experience alongside Steven Johnson, Lucas discusses his transition from private construction to nonprofit work, overseeing modular home production, and how his family’s military connections make the mission especially meaningful.

He also highlights the dedication required to complete the National Mall Veteran Home Build, from long construction days to the teamwork that makes it possible. For Lucas, the greatest reward is knowing the finished home will provide a veteran with a safer, more stable place to live. Learn more and support Purple Heart Homes at https://phhusa.org.
