The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services yesterday reported 2,888 new COVID-19 cases, down from 3,383 the day before. An additional 54 coronavirus-related deaths were added to the total. At least 3,042 people were reported hospitalized with COVID-19 as of yesterday, including 552 adults being treated in intensive care units, health officials said.
