Katie Stankiewicz of Healing with Horses and Willow Equine joined Good Morning LKN to discuss the powerful role equine-assisted therapy plays in supporting veterans, first responders, and their families. Through the nonprofit Healing with Horses, participants can process trauma, build resilience, and find healing in a safe, supportive environment alongside specially trained horses.
Katie shared how the program grew from a recognized need in the community and why supporting families and caregivers is just as important as supporting those who serve. With locations serving the Lake Norman and Iredell County communities, Healing with Horses is helping individuals navigate mental health challenges, PTSD, and life after service through meaningful connections and evidence-based equine therapy.
