Recently on Good Morning LKN, Katie Stankiewicz of the Exchange Club of Mooresville-Lake Norman joined us to reflect on the 25th anniversary of September 11 and the importance of keeping its stories and memories alive for future generations. Katie discussed the Exchange Club’s annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony and Silent Walk, which brought the Mooresville community together at Richard’s Coffee Shop and Liberty Park to remember the 2,977 lives lost, hear firsthand stories, and honor veterans, first responders, and families impacted by 9/11.

She also shared how the Exchange Club of Mooresville-Lake Norman serves the community year-round through Americanism, youth programs, community service, veteran-focused events, scholarships, and child abuse prevention efforts. For Katie, that service is personal, shaped by generations of military service in her own family and a commitment to making sure veterans and their families know they are seen and supported throughout Lake Norman.
