Iredell Free News is reporting the Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education is considering whether to ask the U.S. Congress to reinstate the school nutrition waiver, which made school meals free for all students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The district may ask the N.C. General Assembly to cover the cost of all student meals. During its next meeting, the board will vote on a resolution for support and funding for school nutrition and the school meals program. The federal waiver expired at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.
