Queen City News is reporting a truly heartbreaking story out of Hickory. On Friday night, Philip Paxon, a father of two died after his Jeep plunged into a creek. The bridge he thought he was taking had washed away in 2013. Neither the state nor the county say maintenance of the road is their responsibility. Lawyers are trying to determine who is responsible for maintenance of the road, as the original contractor went out of business several years ago.
