Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) released a statement Thursday regarding H.R. 3746, the “Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023,” saying that throughout the process, he has said that the debt ceiling should only be raised if Washington’s spending addiction is fixed. Budd emphasized that the current bill fails to do that, adding that the bill normalizes pandemic-era spending levels, greenlights trillions more, and retains the vast majority of Biden’s IRS expansion.
