Cabarrus County officials are discussing a fire district realignment plan that improves medical and fire emergency response times in unincorporated areas of southern Cabarrus. The plan impacts approximately 1,500 homes between Harrisburg and Midland. County Fire Marshal Jacob Thompson presented the plan at the Board of Commissioners February work session. His office will spend the next month informing residents of the change ahead of a March 21 public hearing and possible vote. If approved, the realignment would take place July 1. The public hearing on redistricting, again, is March 21st at 6:30pm in the chambers of the Government Center at 65 Church Street South in Concord.
