Firefighters are working to put out a fire in Pilot Mountain State Park that has already burned more than 300 acres. Crews are worried that growing wildfire could soon threaten nearby homes and businesses and are working in the air and on the ground to prevent the fire from growing. They say water can only do so much to slow the fire down. The North Carolina State Parks and Recreation Department said the park is closed and likely will be all week. State officials are asking people to stay away from the area and to refrain from using drones because they may interfere with firefighting aircraft.
