President Joe Biden has nominated South Mecklenburg High School graduate Dena King to become U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, a sprawling criminal-justice system that stretches from metro Charlotte to the Tennessee line. If approved by the Senate, King would be the first person of color to serve as top prosecutor across the 32-county district in its 150-year history.
