Nannie Potts was Cornelius’ first and only black mayor. She volunteered throughout her life. She even had a catering service and catered food for private parties and many of the area’s churches. Unity in Community North Meck, Torrence Chapel AME Zion Church and Davidson Presbyterian are teaming up to celebrate both Nannie and Martin Luther King. The event takes place Sunday, January 15th at AME Zion Church, 21517 Torrence Chapel Road in Cornelius dinner and fellowship from 1-2 pm, and a program from 2:30-4 pm. The public is invited.
