Mike Lennon, Board Chairman of Purple Heart Homes and a Marine Corps veteran, joined Good Morning LKN live from the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to share how a chance meeting with co-founder Dale Beatty in 2009 led to years of advocating for veterans and eventually serving on the organization’s board. He discusses how Purple Heart Homes brings local volunteers, contractors, and community organizations together to improve veterans’ living conditions, including a moving story about helping a Vietnam veteran in Lexington, Virginia, regain safe access to his home.
Mike also shares his personal connection to the National Mall Veteran Home Build, as the completed home will be transported to Glasgow, Virginia, where he lives, and explains how donations of every size, including monthly contributions through the Hearts of Honor program, help sustain the organization’s nationwide mission.
