People Around Carteret Couty Come Together to Restore Newport River to Full, Clean Operation

In Carteret County, where the shellfish industry is a vital part of the economy, nearly 40 percent of the Newport River remains closed because of poor water quality. To save the river- stakeholders from around Carteret County and the state it must first be determined where the pollution is coming from. The Coastal Federation and researchers from NC State are collecting water samples and hope to find a way to bring the river back into full operation.
