One of the top banjo players of all time was from Statesville. His influence on bluegrass and even modern music was the reason Charlie Poole was recently one of inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in Kannapolis. In addition to being a great banjo player, Poole was also an accomplished recording artist and song writer and was the leader of the band The North Carolina Ramblers.
