The National Federation of Independent Business this week urged Roy Cooper and leaders of the General Assembly to suspend North Carolina’s gas tax of 38.5 cents per gallon. Gas prices—especially with the Russian invasion of Ukraine—has propelled gas prices to an all-time high. The average price of regular unleaded in the state was $4.16 a gallon yesterday, up about $1 since Feb. 1, according to AAA.
