ICSO: Domestic Leads to Arrest

Offense(s)/Charge(s): Felony Larceny, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property, Two Counts of Misdemeanor First Degree Trespassing, Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering, Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Oxycodone) Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance (Tramadol)

Suspect(s): Carey Jon Kovacs, 46 Years Old

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, Road Patrol Deputies with Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic incident on Holt Lane in southern Iredell County.

When the deputies arrived they spoke with a female who said she and, Casey Jon Kovacs had been engaged, and had ended their relationship in the middle of October. The victim advised he had been returning to her property since their relationship ended, and had removed property from the residence along with damaging property at the home.


Based on evidence gathered by the deputies, they were able to apply for a search warrant of Carey Kovacs’ residence to recover the stolen property. In addition to the search warrant, arrest warrants for Kovacs for: trespassing, larceny, injury to property and breaking and entering were obtained.


The deputies executed the search warrant at 2024 Perth Road. During the search, stolen items reported from Holt Lane were recovered. Also during the search of the residence several narcotics were located, to include a vile of Fentanyl, and severaldosage units of Oxycodone and Tramadol. 

Based on the evidence gathered during the search of the residence, additional arrest warrants for Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Fentanyl); Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance(Oxycodone); Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule IVControlled Substance (Tramadol) were obtained.


Kovacs was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was served with all of the arrest warrants. Kovacs appeared before Magistrates T. Thompson and S. Nicholson and received a total of 3000.00 dollars secured bond on these charges. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
