ICSO: Crimestoppers tip lead to two arrests

Location of Incident: Dogwood Estates Circle at Bell Farm Road.

 

Suspect(s): Justin Nathaniel Deaton, 38 Years Old

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Monday, October 18, 2021, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Deputies W. Goforth, and J. Kent were following up on a Crime Stoppers Tip at a location off of Bell Farm Road.

 

As the two deputies were turning onto Dogwood Estate Circle, Deputy Goforth observed a blue Ford Explorer traveling towards him, and knew the driver to be Justin Nathaniel Deaton who had active outstanding arrest warrants.

 

Deputy Goforth activated his blue lights in an attempt to get the Explorer to stop. As Deaton began to flee, he nearly struck Deputy Kent’s patrol car.

 

The deputies followed vehicle South on Bell Farm Road. The vehicle then made a right onto Salisbury Road, and continued straight onto Nabors Road, running off the pavement at the end of the dead end road and into a large field until the vehicle became stuck.

 

The driver Justin Deaton got out of the vehicle and began running. Deputy Goforth followed with his canine “Binji”. Deaton was taken into custody a short time later. After securing Deaton, the deputies returned to the vehicle and provided care to female passenger who had sustained injuries when the vehicle had become stuck. Iredell County EMS was called to the scene to provide additional medical treatment.

 

Justin Deaton was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Flee to Elude Arrest, Reckless Driving to Endanger, Failure to Stop at Stop Sign, 

Eight Counts of Misdemeanor Abandonment of Animals, Cruelty to Animals, Felony Conspire to Traffic Methamphetamine, Felony Probation Violation, and

Driving While License Revoked. Deaton appeared before Magistrate S. Watkins who issued a 325,500.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.

 

Peggy Sue Jenkins was charged with: Four Counts of Cruelty to Animals, and Four Counts of Misdemeanor Abandonment of Animals. Magistrate R. Imes issued a 4,500.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.

Criminal history: Misdemeanor Breaking or Entering, Misdemeanor Shoplifting by Concealment, Misdemeanor Intoxicated and Disruptive, Misdemeanor Larceny, Felony Hit and Run, Driving While License Revoked, Felony Financial Card Theft, Three Counts of Felony Obtain Property by False Pretense, Felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.
