Cooper Declares State of Emergency Ahead of Incoming Winter Storm

Charlotte Stories is reporting that Roy Cooper has declared a State of Emergency in preparation of the incoming winter storm. The declaration will officially activate the state’s emergency  operations plan, waive transportation regulations to help the transport  of fuel and critical supplies, help first responders, and protect  consumers from price gouging. The incoming arctic mass will create icy conditions and prolonged  deep freezes across our state. The bitter cold will start on Friday and  continue throughout the holiday weekend, with lows in the teens and  highs barely reaching freezing, while the mountains will be even colder. Winds could cause downed trees, power outages, and dangerous driving  conditions, while below-zero wind chill values will burst pipes in many  areas. Photo credit: John/Pixabay
