Recently on Good Morning LKN, Christian Pearson, owner and director of Pearson House of Rock, and Nick DeVaughn, head instructor and part owner, joined us to share how their Cornelius music school takes a performance-first approach to learning. Instead of focusing only on scales and exercises, students learn guitar, bass, piano, drums, vocals, and more through songs they enjoy, rehearsing with other musicians and gaining real experience performing on stage.Christian also shared his journey from self-taught teenage guitarist to professional musician, instructor, and music school owner, while Nick’s story has come full circle from becoming Christian’s student at age 12 to eventually teaching and becoming part owner. Their goal goes beyond creating great musicians: as Christian put it, they use music as a tool to help students of all ages grow, work through challenges, build confidence, and become better people.
